It's All About Souls, and It Always Will Be
Leonard Ravenhill says, “In revival God is not concerned about filling empty churches, He is concerned about filling empty hearts.”
Over the last several weeks, I have sensed the steadfast heart of God pulling my focus to the condition of the souls of America. The urgency of the hour you and I live in, for a generation to experience the more of God, is by far the greatest need I have ever seen.
We seem to live in what I like to call the “comparison generation” with the world at our fingertips. It seems as if it is extremely simple to lose sight of why we actually said yes to preaching the gospel to start with. No matter how many hours a day we spend focusing on making our ministries bigger and better than the church down the street, God’s heart never changes, and I would like to point out that His focus is and always will simply be people encountering His never-ending love.
Allow me to relieve you of the stress when I say there will ALWAYS be those will surpass us in social media followers and Sunday morning attendance. The mark has been missed if our mindset has shifted to this type of thinking. While we are comparing ourselves to others, God is after our hearts, longing to have a burning relationship with His people. It should never be only about a pulpit or a platform but rather a bride falling into an unshakeable love affair with her bridegroom. I would like to suggest that people need to encounter the fiery eyes of Jesus, not how cool our lights are or how great our worship leaders look. It was the power of the Holy Spirit that transformed my life, not man-made paradigms or agendas. We have mastered how to have good services and quite frankly, Jesus himself would stand confused while observing the modern-day church today.
Jesus went about healing the sick, raising the dead, casting out demons, and setting the captives free. THIS IS CHURCH FRIEND.
John 14:12 reads “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.” (ESV)
Acts 2 gives us an illustration of what takes place when man removes himself out of the way and allows the Holy Spirit to take over. There came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Tongues of fire appeared to them and rested on each of them as they were filled with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:1-4) This is the only answer for America today – a Holy Ghost revival. We need the fire back, and my face is set like flint to contend for another great awakening which I believe will be the greatest we have ever seen.
After the passing of Billy Graham, I believe there was a shift that took place across America. It will no longer be about one man, one ministry, or one movement, but rather an entire generation standing in the gap to see a fresh outpouring of God’s spirit and power. Those who are sitting in the back of our churches are moving to the frontlines, bringing forth great synergy across the body of Christ. Only those operating in true humility will witness this, realizing that it truly is about Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I believe this is the reason we feel the urgency to go after souls in this hour. Every single person and heart is significant to God. There’s a fresh wave on the horizon, and the army of the Lord will march together in unity with weapons in hand to destroy every attack of the adversary.
I simply want to provoke your spirit and encourage you to move in faith every day. God desires to use you in more ways than you could ever imagine. Your life has global significance so let’s be history makers! What are you waiting for friend? Your destiny awaits.
Father I pray that you would unite the church like never before. Give us eyes to see and ears to hear. Help us to realize it’s about you and not us. Align our hearts with your heart and shake us from complacency. Wake us from our slumber and stir our hearts to get in the game and get off of the bench. We need you God more than ever before. Holy Spirit come in your power and release your love like never before. We are hungry. We are thirsty. Come Lord Jesus.
